Tailor-making your print

Tailor-making an art print is quite similar than going to a tailor for a new suit or a dress: you tell us what your requirements, and we will create a unique art print that suits you and your location perfectly. It does not matter if you do not know everything about art, photography or printing - we do. We will give you suggestions and new ideas and make sure your new art print is perfect for you. You can even send us a photograph of the location where you would like to hang your art print, and we will digitally add the art print to your wall to show you how it would look like.

Tailor-making an art print is always free and it is not a decision of purchase. When you ask us to tailor-make an art print, we will give a suggestion to you based on your needs and wishes. You can then review the tailor-made art print, make more changes to it or proceed to purchase it.

To tailor-make an art print, just pick the art print you wish to tailor, and click on the tailor-make link. Within 24 hours we will send you a preview of the tailor-made art print.

What if I cannot find the art print I am looking for?

We have included only a small fraction of our whole art print collection online, but we have a lot more art prints in our archives. If you do not happen to find the right art print for you from the online selection, you can ask us to go through our archives and search an art print for you. In case you would like to have a completely custom made art print (for example of your own house, product or your favourite spot in the whole world), we also do custom jobs. For special requests or a custom job, please contact us with the details of your request.

Information about tailoring options

Tailoring options: size

You can change the size of the art print. In the height and width field, you can enter the measurements you would like your art print to have.

You can also change the shape of the art print. For example, if the original art print is square, you can make it horizontal by entering a width that is larger than the height. You can make a square print vertical by entering a height that is larger than the width. If you want a square art print, make sure the height and the width you enter are exactly the same. In case you wish to change the shape of the art print, we will re-design the art print according to the new measurements.

Note! You should always leave some room between the art print and the walls, ceiling, floor or nearby furniture. For example, if the wall you plan to hang your art print on is 2.5m (98in) high and 2m (78in) wide, the art print could be for example 2.3m (90in) by 1.8m (70in). This way you would leave 10cm (4in) space on all sides of the art print.

Tailoring options: color profile

You can use the color profile settings to change the colors of the art print. The options are explained below:

Full color

No changes are made to the art print's colors.

Black & white

The art print is changed to black and white. Black and white art prints are considered to be more interpretive and subtle than full colour art prints. They also give a more timeless feeling than colour art prints.

Sepia

A sepia-toned art print are basically black and white photographs with a a warm, brownish hue to them, which creates an old-fashioned, nostalgic feel to them.

In duotone, a black and white image is combined with another colour, such as blue, green, red, cyan, magenta or yellow, giving the image a distinct hue.

Tailoring options: Print material

You can choose the material the art print is printed on.

Canvas

The default print material, made of natural fabric with a printable layer. Known also for being used in art paintings. A canvas is stretched on a wooden frame, either 2cm (0.8in) or 4cm (1.6in) thick. Canvases can be used for any art print purpose, but only indoors.

Dibond

In a dibond art print, the art print is glued to a metal plate and covered by acrylic glass. Dibond printing is more expensive than canvas printing, but it gives a more bright and colourful result. Dibond printing is used in high-end art galleries.

MDF

MDF, or medium-density fibreboard, is made of wood fibers that are formed into panels by applying high temperature and pressure. The result is a solid, thick wooden board. MDF prints are thinner but also more durable than canvases, and they can be attached directly to a wall with bolts.

Vinyl mesh

A vinyl mesh is an excellent choice for large-scale outdoor printing. The print material is designed to resist sunlight and extreme temperatures, an as such is often used in very large outdoor advertisements.

Acryl

An acrylic print is printed on the backside of an acrylic board, so the print is viewed through the acryl. Whereas dibond prints have two layers and the art print in between, in an acryl print the printing is done directly on the acryl board. Acrylic prints are durable and can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Photo paper

There are numerous possibilities when printing on photo paper, for example glossy or matte paper. In case you are interested in printing on photographic paper, we will give you a few suggestions depending on your art print and the location it will be in. A photo paper art print can be used as a poster, but for a more durable solution, the print should be separately framed.
